Astrofest Amenities

Showers will be available

Vendors will be available each day until dinner time. Specific spaces have been assigned to vendors. “Vendor Row” is located along the tree-lined on the west side of the field.
NOTE: each vendor will make a 10 to 15 minute presentation on their Astrofest Specials and astronomy- related products of interest to astrofesters.

A “Swap Line” is located along the Vendor Row. Astrofest participants with astronomy-related items to sell or trade may set up tables, etc., along the Swap Line. Do not set up tables in spaces reserved for vendors—even if the space is vacant.

The limestone quarry located a mile southeast of the Astrofest site has agreed to extinguish all lights on Friday and Saturday nights. The farmer-neighbors surrounding the Astrofest site have also agreed to extinguish their barn and yard lights. Please report any visible white ights to the Astrofest Information Table located in the store area or to any Astrofest committee member (they will be wearing special vests.)

Dump Station is located at Kankakee State Park 7 miles north.

A high-speed, wireless internet site may be ready by the time of Astrofest 2008.

The CAS observatory is open for inspection and for use by CAS members during Astrofest. Equipment includes a 14-inch Meade OTA, a Paramount precision equatorial mount & drive, a video eyepiece color camera, a HyperStar® f/2 wide-field adapter, and a selection of Mead 5000 series eyepieces. A mentor to inform, guide and certify will be in the observatory at all times.

Pre-ordered T-Shirts, Sweat Shirts, and Hooded Sweat Shirts can be picked up at the AstroFest Information Tent.
