In case some of the directions might be incorrect, please be sure to call first and confirm directions to the place of interest. Astrofest is off of Hwy 102 and about 15 minutes by car west of Bourbonnais.

Horseback trail rides: Kankakee River State Park. (815) 939-0309. From the Astrofest (AF) site go left on Hwy 102 about 1 mile. Look for the sign reading "State Park Stables". $8.00 (yr. 2000 price) for 1/2 hour and $15.00 for a 1 hour ride. Children must be 6 yrs. or older for trail ride. Trail rides are on the hour - be there 15 minutes before the hour. Hours are 10 am to 6 pm.

Canoeing on the Kankakee River: Reed's Concession stand in the Kankakee River State Park. (815) 932-6555. They go out every half hour from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. You actually start in Kankakee by the dam and canoe to the state park. $36 per canoe (2 seat). $10 deposit (refundable). Extra riders can be in the canoe: $6 for anyone over 12 yrs. of age. Free if under 12 yrs. of age.

Archery: Kankakee River State Park. (815) 933-1383.

Fishing: Kankakee River State Park. They have fishing piers as well.

Biking: Kankakee River State Park. Reed's Concession Stand has a bike rental service. $7/hr or $20 for all day. $5 deposit (refundable). Friday 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. Saturday and Sunday 8:30 am to 6:30 pm. Paths are in the park.

Kids stuff: Perry Farm. (815) 933-9905. 459 N. Kennedy Dr. From the AF site go left on Hwy 102 to kennedy Dr. in Bourbonnais. When Kennedy Dr. comes to an end go to the right. Once you pass the 2nd stop light take the first right. Free admission. Petting zoo, exploration station, Indian caves, walking trails and more. Hidden Cove Family Park. (815) 933-9150. 70 Ken Hayes Dr. From AF site go left on Hwy 102 to Kennedy Dr. When Kennedy Dr. ends take a left. At the 1st stoop take a right to Rt. 50. Go left on Rt. 50 - it's behind the mall. Go carts, roller skating, laser tag, minature golf, driving range (kids and adults), batting cages and arcade games.

Movie theaters: Historic Paramount Theater. 213 Schyler Ave. in Kankakee. (815) 936-6843. Movies 10. Northfield Square Mall. (815) 933--5449. From the AF site go left on Hwy 102. Get on Kennedy Dr. When it ends take a left onto Rt. 17. Take a right on Schuyler.

Antique Malls: Bourbonnais area - Castle Antique Mall. 1789 N. Rt 50. (815) 936-1505. Open 7 days per week from 10 am to 5 pm. The Old Barn Antiques. Rt 102. (815) 939-4352.
